Spring collection

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

The scent of pleasantness and a new season beckons the trend for more magic in the dresses. For men’s wear too, the spring clothes are much about airy feel and suiting to the climate. Spring is just here after a spectacular winter and there is much in fashion that is doing the rounds with hair bows, bracelets, trinkets and sweet summer dresses. The day wear for spring collection is about voiles, cottons, soft lycra that is breathe-easy and the muslins.

For petite models, the flowing gown style frock is quite a choice. The colors seem great with yellows, ochre, orange and subtle hints of blue and green to emanate the cool look. The mystery of yesteryears is seen well with the blends in fabric like nylon-cotton and the trimmings are also preferred in silk or satin as they stay away from the body to still give you relief from the starting summer.

Taking the cue from nature, the motifs of a bird or butterfly suits a tall frame that can do much justice to a fly-away-style gown. The era of olden days can be captured with lace and edgings done in hand woven embroidery. This has great appeal in a sari or a wrap that has the borrowings of ethnic blend in a modern dress.

Go bright for a party theme with pinks, fuchsia and use some pearly accessories in acrylic beads or simple plastic ones give you more variety. Try the hair band that is simply girlie or use a broad sash done with a stole and wrap the same towards the low waist skirt. The simple use of culottes and denim wear in light weight fabrics is good for the casual day times.

This time too, the powdery colors are seen as they bring out the freshness about clothing. Men’s shirts too are seen in rare fruity colors and the dull grey is well suited with an off white Capri or a khakhi pant. The smart casual is particularly suited for Friday dressing to give the slight touch of corporate élan. Accessories this spring season are seen with the tote bag for night parties and the grocery jute bag hung cross shouldered for the day time.

Make use of contrast color with a lavender dress done simplistically with sequins in silver. Matching silver trinkets transform the dress into a party affair. Use peep toes, sandals or flat slippers that keeps your feet airy and cool.

winter wear

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

The pleasant chill in the air stirs in happiness of the winter season. Happy mornings and a bright spirit to welcome the short days are the things about winter. Winter wear is quite a fashion and urban Indians wait for the time to bring out the best in winter wear. Winter day wears are also getting brighter and dull tones are replaced with strong colors.

A stole is a necessity for quiet evenings. Do make it possible to mix and match colors or use trendy clothes. Thermal linings are a boon to any fashionista. There are cowled ready to put on drapes and also cardigans made from the best wool available. Haute fashion is again a personal style.

Go for the black leather jacket with embellishments especially if you are a bike person. Get out the scarves to tame the wind blown hair and also use a cap essentially to cover the ears. Winter is usually light in India, but bring out the silk saris which was closeted throughout the season.

If ethnic wear is demanded in the occasion then club fabrics in the yoke style and also use a thermal inner that will insulate you well. Warm shawls in the best kashmiri works or the expensive Angora shawl handkerchief is definitely a style collection. For mild afternoons, denim jackets will do well. Do not hold on to blue in denims as there are many choices with pinks, purple and browns.

Accessories again are a highlight for this season. The ethnic broach for the sari or the gown. Metallic earnings or acrylic bright hued bangles also seem the best. Kurtis with sequins or blings for the collegiate is also new in its shades and design.

Kolhapuri chappals are elegantly handcrafted footwear. In Kolhapur, these chappals are known as the “Pie-taan”. Usually, they are prepared in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. They are accessible in a range of sizes, models and colors. standard kolhpuri chappals are perfect for every day wear. A remarkable thing to make a note of here is that not even one iron nail is used in the whole production process. The sole and the entire body of the chappals are attached together by sewing it which is done with a leather thread. Other additions and decorations are then made for preparing an attractive pair of Kolhapuri chappals. Some of the traditional patterns of Kolhapuri chappals comprise of Kachkadi, bakkalnali, and pukari.

The skill of Kolhapuri chappals does not exist only in Kolhapur but also in adjoining areas of Kapashi and Dongari. It’s astonishing to see the whole family functioning collectively and making chappals even nowadays.

comfort footwear

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

One sure way to glam up a simple outfit is by way of accessories. Comfort should be a priority and it would not be right to be a slave of fashion and compromise on ease. The reason behind this any discomfort shows easily and lowers our confidence. Trends are set with each new season with wonderful new styles displayed on the ramp. A party occasion asks us to be on our heels and stilettos whereas a walk in garden or mall would require us to wear something that spells ‘ease’.

All of us have our favorite colors but the options in shoes are more than hues. There are gladiator styles, juttis, jungle motifs and also our good own kolhpuris that will stay forever in style. Short people often make the choice to go in for high heels that is very difficult to be balanced for long hours. Wedges seem a better choice here.

Travel comfort especially in flights requires low heeled shoes to ease the veins and muscles so as to not cause cramping. Shoes for office wear need to have neutral colors like beige, black, mauves or the best of whites. For a pant suit that is aqua blue or pink, heels in grey are a better choice than blacks. Black seems contrasting to such tones and hence it is better to add a touch of grey to strike a balance.

A lot of drama is allowed for a carnival or a barge party and hence the use of pinks, yellows and orange peep toes is a girl’s best choice. Sports events need more comfort to avoid accidents and hence the ranges in shock absorbing shoes seem a wide range. Though comfort is also a mind set the person must know when to discard an old shoe.

Our feet are weight bearing and hence to balance the factor it seems important to wear comfortable shoes that are the right fit. Socks or stockings need to be worn as per the climatic conditions.
