Spring collection

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

The scent of pleasantness and a new season beckons the trend for more magic in the dresses. For men’s wear too, the spring clothes are much about airy feel and suiting to the climate. Spring is just here after a spectacular winter and there is much in fashion that is doing the rounds with hair bows, bracelets, trinkets and sweet summer dresses. The day wear for spring collection is about voiles, cottons, soft lycra that is breathe-easy and the muslins.

For petite models, the flowing gown style frock is quite a choice. The colors seem great with yellows, ochre, orange and subtle hints of blue and green to emanate the cool look. The mystery of yesteryears is seen well with the blends in fabric like nylon-cotton and the trimmings are also preferred in silk or satin as they stay away from the body to still give you relief from the starting summer.

Taking the cue from nature, the motifs of a bird or butterfly suits a tall frame that can do much justice to a fly-away-style gown. The era of olden days can be captured with lace and edgings done in hand woven embroidery. This has great appeal in a sari or a wrap that has the borrowings of ethnic blend in a modern dress.

Go bright for a party theme with pinks, fuchsia and use some pearly accessories in acrylic beads or simple plastic ones give you more variety. Try the hair band that is simply girlie or use a broad sash done with a stole and wrap the same towards the low waist skirt. The simple use of culottes and denim wear in light weight fabrics is good for the casual day times.

This time too, the powdery colors are seen as they bring out the freshness about clothing. Men’s shirts too are seen in rare fruity colors and the dull grey is well suited with an off white Capri or a khakhi pant. The smart casual is particularly suited for Friday dressing to give the slight touch of corporate élan. Accessories this spring season are seen with the tote bag for night parties and the grocery jute bag hung cross shouldered for the day time.

Make use of contrast color with a lavender dress done simplistically with sequins in silver. Matching silver trinkets transform the dress into a party affair. Use peep toes, sandals or flat slippers that keeps your feet airy and cool.

Winter fashion

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Be it a classy hair style or a car, vintage styles are in. There is one rule for winter fashion and it spells clearly as ‘comfort’. Indian winters are characterized as mild but the wind is quite a bother. Though style need not be compromised winter styles are certainly to ward off the winter blues. Use intelligent layered clothing and most branded items give you the best in recent colors and fabrics.

Dressing for a wedding need not be about shawls and stoles. Use the tweed suit in plain grey or silver to go over the sherwani or Chinese collared jacquard ethnic wear. The inners in thermal wear also come as good insulation and protection that is needed for the windy night parties. Use simple hair bands or pins to secure hair from the wind and also get into texturing the hair with special formulated winter shampoos.

Skin style is about ease and simplicity and the make up has to be based with a moisturizer. Use a neat lip gloss for the office chic look and do the hair up with a bun to go along with a stocking layered mini skirt in black or grey. Winters are a time to experiment with denims. Invest in good T shirts or inners resembling the ganji look. This is fantastic for teen collection with full sleeved polo shirts with flashy messages.

Use the stole-cum-dupatta as a winter accessory and leave it loose around the neck or cover the same artistically with half of it flowing around the shoulder. Bike jackets in orange, green and flashy shiny suede colors are still in this winter. Though a costly investment, this is a sure style accessory. Using thermal socks is also a good idea if you are getting into sneakers for your causal party.

There are spell binding styles in Indian embroided silks and woven woolen items. Use a casual poncho and a scarf which is hand embroided. Get some stuff from the locals in the hill stations and sew up a frock in knit variety. Woolen wear need not be layers of unmanageable stuff as there are neat options in thermal inners, jackets and soft cardigans.
