Party time

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

December is a time to let the hair down, unwind and just enjoy the bliss of being in the company of friends. Christmas parties are also getting thematic with the big motive to entertainment, game hosts and lots of merriment for all the party people to relax. Planning for a party is more about coordination. Browse through catalogues or ask your designer to get you a dress that is easy and yet stylish. Golden or sequined dresses are very much in vogue.

The length of frocks this season is more of the thigh length but the stop-at-the knee skirts or frocks also are style quotients. Go for a broad belt if you wish to accentuate your waist. Slim is in and this can be brought in with colors like mauve, violet and brows. Off shoulder ones are comfy and single strapped broached ones are also getting popular. The very high heels are very much acceptable and yet one can do with the strappy styles for the beach party.

If you are using your Valentine dress then get a new set in jewelry or go in for the designer clutch purse. Roomy and easy to handle tote bags are also party sections. For people who have a petite figure there are great many hues in yellows, aqua blue and jersey frocks that are stretchable and accentuate the seams. If the party is informal then the little black dress with yoke halter is the best bet. Mingle some beady pearly sets in peach or pink to offset the simple short black dress.

If prom style party wear is decided to welcome 2010, and then invest in the beaded gowns, trail gowns and the colors seem appealing in navy blue, reds and crimsons. Glitter is in and so are sequins. Do the same with make up to get the hint of glamour right. Go easy on the main pattern and yet do some sprinkled sequined-beads in the bodice or edges.

Embellishments are the main style this year end. Go in for a monotone dress or use striking two combo colors and assemble them with a proper cut. There are silhouette cuts, fish cuts, trimmed waistlines, princess lines for the formal New Year Eve party.

Wedge Heels

Saturday, August 1st, 2009

Wedge heels represent heels that run the length of the sole or base of the shoe — in the shape of a block. This is distinguished from other types of heels that simply offer a heel that falls down from the heel of the foot and arrives to a tip. Usually wedge heels appear in summery shoes, with open toes, in slides, or in strappy sandals.

Wedges come in various colours and designs. One of the most trendy wedge heels in the late 70s and early 80s was prepared by the shoe maker Candies. These shoes had firm plastic block heels which yet again became temporarily in style in the 1990s and 2000s.

Many people confuse wedge heels with platform shoes. The two styles are not equally exclusive. They have some similarities; however, wedge heels are not always platforms. at times the wedge simply raises the upper portion of the foot, sliding to a thin sole below the balls and toes.

Wedge heels are always in vogue and never out of style. They usually offer a more stability than the typical heel, because the wedge expands out from the whole sole of the shoe. You don’t have to balance on a pointed heel as the wedge lets you rest your entire heel on the floor. If you find it difficult to walk in heels, wedge heels can be a fine way to start.

Most women find wedge heels comparatively more comfortable than stiletto or kitten heel styles and those with rubberized wedges can offer a little bounce. Wedge heels on a little rubber platform can also be fairly comfy to wear.

Wedge heels are usually categorized under casual wear. You can wear wedges with jeans, dresses, flowing skirts, jeans and even capris. They go with almost everything and make you look stylish and chic.
