Preventing Split Ends

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Split ends is a major problem faced by many people. Hair care is a delicate issue and despite the onslaught of several hair care products, one cannot get rid of all the hair problems in a jiffy. Many products do help in bringing that shine and beauty to the hair but they also do not have answers to all the problems faced by hair. In such cases, it is better to take preventive measures. Split end is one of the most common problems. They harm in two different ways of damaging your hair and stunting the growth. They also cause rough hair. As suggested above, it is better if you take preventive measures well in advance.

The first thing you need to take care is of avoid using chemical ridden materials. Natural stuffs are always recommended for better hair. Chemical materials adversely affect hair texture in the long run. Swimmers often face problem of split ends because of chlorine in the water. For them, using swim cap or shampooing hair properly after the swim is strongly recommended. Water coming through your tap is full of chemicals and these cause split ends. Use filters to get better water and prevent your hair from getting split ends. Alternately, you can also use water softening system in the house.

Hair must be combed straight. Back-combing causes great damage to hair. One should not comb hair too much as it causes split ends. Just a fw times and it is more than sufficient. Try using a pick or wide-toothed comb that would be greatly beneficial for your hair. Be very gentle to your hair. Try wearing hat while you go out in sun because ultraviolet rays affect hair. You can also use a conditioner that suits your hair type and apply it before every outing. Avoid using artificial way of drying like hair dryer as they cause split ends.

Fashion Tips

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Fashion is an industry that keeps changing rapidly. Hence it is important that you keep yourself updated with new fashion of the season and its related colors.

Some of the common fashion tips that I can share are as follows:

    * If you are going to buy a new pair of shades for you, it is necessary that you know the shape of your face. If you have a round face, avoid wearing shades that are very big and round. Opt for shades that are sleek and rimless.

    * Remember to protect yourself from the sun’s harmful UV rays by wearing a minimum SPF 15 sunscreen every day.

    * While applying your eye liner or lip liner, make sure that it does not smudge across the eye. In case you feel this is happening shift to a liner that is liquid base. This will make sure that the liner does not smudge on the eye.

    * Most people do not take proper care of their nails. It is not necessary that you get expensive manicures and pedicures every week but soaking your hands in warm water, removing the dirt and moisturizing your nails is important. This can be done sitting at home as well.

    * Always keep a lip balm with you. This tip goes for guys as well. Applying lip balm will make sure that your lips are well moisturized.

Follow a skin care routine for a perfect flawless skin

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

To have a glowing clear complexion, it is very necessary that one follows the skin care processes of cleansing, moisturizing and exfoliating.  This daily 3-step skincare routine is absolutely necessary to nourish the skin. However it is necessary to know the skin type (dry, oily, combination) of the person before one starts with ones skin care routine.

A good cleanser is a must to start with the skin care routine. Try to avoid bar soaps as they tend to dry out the skin due to the chemicals present in it. Too much of cleansing can also hamper ones skin. Creamy cleansers should be used so that they wipe off easily.

Apart from cleansing, most beauty experts suggest to wash one face thrice a day. The best way to wash your face is to use warm water to loosen dirt and clogged pores. Mild face washes are to be used here. If one wants to take off makeup, a proper makeup remover is needed apart from a face wash.

Exfoliation is what most people miss out on, in their skincare routine. But proper exfoliation can make an immediate difference. Scrubs work by removing the top layer of dead skin cells that tend to dull your complexion. Exfoliating the skin once a week regularly keeps skin glowing year-round. Another important step in skin care routine is to moisturize it. But how much moisturizer should be used will depend on the skin type an individual has. Unless one is suffering from acne, moisturizer benefits all types of skin making it smooth and supple. A good regular skin care cream can also functions as a good moisturizer.

Skin car treatment product help the skin to reduce bacteria, remove dead skin, keeps the pore ducts of the skin open, protects in sunrays, treats damaged skin etc. These products help the skin to fight infections and other toxic agents affecting your skin.

Monsoon Make-up

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Most of us are worried about our make-up when the monsoons arrive. We have some tips for you to protect yourself and your make-up when it’s raining.

First of all, avoid applying thick make-up as it has the risk of being washed out. Wear light and subtle make-up. Nowadays, there is waterproof make-up available in the market, like waterproof mascaras, liners, foundation and lipsticks. You can opt for these.

Besides, avoid using foundation if not necessary, or use it as a concealer. Face powder is a better option to remove the oiliness off your face. Avoid using pressed powder during the rains. While using eye-shadows, put the cream shadows away and instead use the powdered shadows. Opt for colours like pink and brown which are easier to maintain.

Blush should be applied lightly so that it doesn’t look like a spot of colour on your face. Cream blushers are water-friendly. If your face gets wet, you just need to pat it with a tissue. Again chose colours which are easier to maintain and go with your skin type.

Avoid using the wet eye liners during the monsoons. Instead use a kajal pencil as a liner. Also avoid using liquid lip colours and gloss for this season. Instead use lip balm and matte lipsticks which will also moisturize your lips.

Lastly, it is quite difficult to handle your hair during the rainy season. Put away the sprays and gels since they will get washed away anyways. Try and keep your hair tied to avoid frizz. Dry your hair quickly with a hair dryer once it gets wet. Avoid ironing or curling your hair artificially since it would not last for long during the monsoons.

There is absolutely no need to worry this season. You can glow and look pretty even while it’s raining. And the best alternative is to keep it natural!
