India Couture week

All you fashion enthusiasts and trend setters of the town will sure be aware of the HDIL India Couture Week that was recently held in Mumbai at Grand Hyatt. The event was quite a show with Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, Manish Malhotra, Varun Bahl, Manav Gangwani, Suneet Verma showcasing their bridal and wedding collection. And what was particularly interesting to notice was that velvet is back and with a bang too!
Kareena and Saif walked the ramp for Manish Malhotra while Shruti Hassan and Zayed Khan walked for Manav Gangwani. Imran Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Shahrukh Khan and Gauri Khan walked the ramp for Karan Johar. Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgun, Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Salman, Sohail, Arbaaz Khan and Sanjay Dutt too walked the ramp for ‘Being Human’ at HDIL Couture Week.
Many critics said that the India couture week was high on glamour and less on couture but nonetheless, whatever little it was, helped the fashionistas to know the current trends and what to expect this coming wedding season.
It was only fashion designer Monisha Jaising who came up with a fresh collection of bustier dresses and fishnet gowns for her couture line otherwise, most of them stuck to bridal wear. Heavy zardosi work on transparent sarees paired with velvet blouses and golden borders seemed to be the mantra for this fall. I particularly liked the Manav Gangwani’s collection as it perfectly highlighted the theme he titled ‘A Tempestuous Affaire’. I also liked Manish Malhotra’s collection but I thought it was too Bollywood.
